Passage: Philippians 3:17–3:21
Waiting for Jesus
Philippians 3:17-21
Beware of the dogs (false teachers) who would devour your joy through a works-based gospel. We are right with God/saved by grace through faith alone in Christ alone and not by works – thus salvation is to the glory of God alone. Anything we could boast about is rubbish in comparison to Jesus (Philippians 3:1-11).
But we must not presume upon God’s grace (Philippians 3:12-16). We do not take a deep breath of grace and relax our effort to become like Jesus. We take a deep breath of grace and run hard after Christ! Forget past successes and failures, focus on one thing – Christ-likeness, and finish the race well.
We are reminded in our text this morning that running after Jesus requires endurance. The run is like a wait. We do not know when the race will be over. Be warned - some professing believers have not endured.
Main Point: ______ _________ for Jesus.
1. Follow Christ-Like ___________ (Phil. 3:17-19)
2. Think Like a _______________ (Phil. 3:20-21)
